ENERES Co., Ltd.

ENERES Co., Ltd. today announced its participation in the Energy Resource Aggregation Association (ERA), which was established on the same day.

◆About the Energy Resource Aggregation Association (ERA)

ERA is an association established with the participation of a wide range of companies and organizations, including specified wholesale supply business operators (aggregators), energy companies, manufacturers, system vendors, financial institutions, and experts.

◆ENERES and Aggregation

Since FY2016, ENERES has participated as a consortium leader in government-led virtual power plant (VPP) demonstration projects. Leveraging ICT, IoT, and AI technologies, ENERES has developed VPP technologies and mechanisms for accurately controlling a large number of diverse distributed energy resources (DERs) and utilizing them in the power grid.

Beginning in FY2017, ENERES participated in Balancing Capacity Procurement as an aggregator and launched commercial services to provide electricity through demand response. In FY2022, ENERES became the first aggregator to obtain a license as a specified wholesale supply business operator and supported Japan’s first participation in Balancing Capacity Procurement using EVs.

Believing that further development of the aggregation business requires industry participants to deepen collaboration, make policy recommendations to the government and relevant organizations, and promote the development of institutional frameworks, ENERES decided to join ERA. ENERES serves on ERA’s Board of Directors, with Teruo Kobayashi, Senior Executive Officer and Division Director, Business Strategy Division and Department Manager, Eneres Labs representing the company.
