Joining Wireless EV Alliance

2024.06.21

ENERES Co., Ltd.

ENERES Co., Ltd. joins the Wireless EV Alliance, established on June 10, 2024, as a regular member.

[About the Wireless EV Alliance]

Electric vehicle (EV) wireless charging technology is a promising social infrastructure that not only improves EV user convenience by eliminating plug insertion/removal hassle but also helps maximize renewable energy utilization and power supply-demand balancing by enabling charging during stops and even while driving, and allowing constant connection between EVs and the power grid.
The Wireless EV Alliance was established to promote EV wireless charging technology to support mobility electrification and contribute to industry development through industry-government-academia cooperation.

The following activities will be primarily developed:
(1) Promoting EV wireless charging as social infrastructure
(2) External communication and education on practical implementation and promotion of EV wireless charging
(3) Promoting standardization of EV wireless charging technology

[ENERES and EVs]
ENERES has participated since the first demonstration year in METI’s “Demonstration Project for Further Utilization of Distributed Energy Resources (FY2021-2023)” and its predecessor “Virtual Power Plant Construction Demonstration Project (FY2016-2020).” The ENERES consortium has particularly focused on aggregation utilizing low-voltage resources, especially EVs which are difficult to control, developing technology together with partner companies. In FY2022, we supported participation in Japan’s first balancing capacity tender using EVs.
ENERES decided to join this alliance with the aim of further promoting effective utilization of EVs as low-voltage resources by combining the technology, knowledge, and new operation methods we have developed for controlling low-voltage resources including EVs with EV wireless charging technology.
Through participation in the Wireless EV Alliance, ENERES will share knowledge and technology regarding EV utilization with industry and contribute to building new power systems that realize both carbon neutrality and stable power supply.
