Conclusion of an offsite corporate PPA contract
~Achieving 100% renewable energy for TODA CORPORATION-related facilities with Fuyo General Lease~

2024.01.15

ENERES Co., Ltd.

ENERES Co., Ltd. and ENERES Power Marketing Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Yasuhiro Uchida, hereinafter “EPM”) have concluded a contract (hereinafter “this contract”) related to an offsite corporate PPA[1] for solar power generation with TODA CORPORATION (Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President and Representative Director: Seisuke Otani, hereinafter “Toda Construction”), TOWA KANKO KAIHATSU Co., Ltd. (Suo-Oshima-cho, Oshima-gun, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Representative Director: Takeshi Kobayashi, hereinafter “TOWA KANKO”), and Fuyo General Lease Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and Representative Director: Hiroaki Oda, hereinafter “Fuyo General Lease”).

[About this offsite corporate PPA contract]
Under this contract, renewable energy generated at a solar power plant (Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture) that Fuyo General Lease plans to start operating during fiscal 2023 will be supplied through ENERES and EPM to “MARISSA RESORT sazanseto suo-oshima” (Oshima-gun, Suo-Oshima-cho, Yamaguchi Prefecture, hereinafter “MARISSA RESORT”) operated by TOWA KANKO, a consolidated subsidiary of TODA CONSTRUCTION. By supplying all electricity used at MARISSA RESORT with renewable electricity from this power plant (approximately 415 MWh annually) and effective renewable electricity by utilizing tracking non-fossil certificates supplied by EPM, 100% renewable energy will be realized at MARISSA RESORT.

[ENERES and Offsite Corporate PPA]
ENERES provides various solutions to support corporate decarbonization from the aspect of electricity usage. One example is offsite corporate PPAs.

Unlike general renewable energy supply, under an offsite corporate PPA the electricity user company (buyer) and renewable energy power plant (seller) enter into long-term renewable energy sales contracts after identifying each other. The contract is made among three parties, including a retail electricity provider. This service is attracting attention from companies promoting the switch to renewable energy use, as it secures renewable electricity for the long term and can lead to fixed electricity rates. Furthermore, it has the effect of increasing renewable energy generation facilities, as renewable energy generators can secure long-term revenue, making it easier to invest in equipment. It can be called “renewable energy with additionality” that promotes the increase of new renewable energy facilities. ENERES’s offsite corporate PPA service not only matches companies promoting decarbonization with renewable energy generators but also provides packaged additional services needed by each company and power generator. In addition to offsite corporate PPAs, we provide decarbonization solutions suited to each company, such as “source-linked renewable energy menus” for companies wanting to easily switch to renewable electricity, “wheeling support services” for companies wanting to open their own power plants to supply within their corporate groups, and “TPO services” for companies considering installing solar power generation facilities within their business sites.

Through the provision of various solutions, ENERES will support corporate decarbonization promotion activities and contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral and prosperous future society.

[1] Offsite corporate PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) is a contract where a power user (consumer) purchases renewable energy electricity and environmental value from a power generator over the long term. The offsite type is a form where the operator installs renewable energy generation equipment outside the user’s premises, allowing users to utilize renewable energy even if they cannot install generation equipment on their own premises.
