Achieving Off-site PPA for Low-Voltage Demand Sites Where There Are Few Implementation Examples- Toward Making All Demand Sites 100% Renewable Energy Equivalent

YAMAICHI JISHO Co., Ltd., ENERES Co., Ltd., and ENERES Power Marketing Co., Ltd. have concluded an off-site PPA (physical) contract to supply renewable energy with additionality from power generation equipment owned by YAMAICHI JISHO to three low-voltage demand facilities and four high-voltage demand facilities belonging to the company. Supply will begin on December 1, 2025.
An off-site PPA is where power generators and consumers directly conclude long-term renewable energy sales/purchase contracts through a retail electricity provider. In recent years, adoption of this renewable energy procurement method has been expanding due to factors such as securing renewable energy at stable prices during the contract period and the recognition of renewable energy “additionality.” On the other hand, for low-voltage demand sites where split supply is not permitted, the fact that the retail electricity provider is inevitably tied to the off-site PPA contracting party has become a barrier, and there are still not many implementation examples.
In this contract, YAMAICHI JISHO serves as both the power generator and the consumer, and plans to generate and procure approximately 150,000 kWh of renewable energy annually through ENERES and EPM. This corresponds to 15% of the electricity consumption at the demand sites receiving renewable energy supply this time, and by supplying renewable energy equivalent from EPM for the shortfall, the project will achieve 100% renewable energy equivalent for all demand sites
