ENERES Obtains Third-Party Validation for its Hybrid Offsite PPA Service
– Achieving Both Flexible Switching Between Physical and Virtual PPAs and Compliance with the RE100 Technical Criteria –

2026.01.08

ENERES Co., Ltd

ENERES Co., Ltd. has obtained third-party validation for the renewable energy generation/supply calculation and operational framework of its Hybrid Offsite PPA Service [1]. The Company has received a validation report confirming that the framework has been appropriately designed in accordance with the RE100 Technical Criteria 2025. The third-party validation was conducted by SOCOTEC Certification Japan (“SOCOTEC”), a certification body that provides certification services including ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems certification. SOCOTEC carried out the validation procedure with reference to applicable requirements, including JIS Q 14064-3:2023 (ISO 14064-3:2019), “Specification with Guidance for the Verification and Validation of Greenhouse Gas Statements.”

▮Background and Significance of the Validation

ENERES’ Hybrid Offsite PPA Service, which was the subject of this validation, is a proprietary service launched in April 2025. It was developed to support the adoption of renewable energy with additionality by reducing corporate concerns regarding long-term contracts, one of the primary barriers to implementing offsite PPAs.

Normally, if switching between a physical PPA [2] (electricity and environmental attributes) and a virtual PPA [3] (environmental attributes only) during the contract period may result in the loss of “original off-taker”[4] status under the RE100 Technical Criteria from an additionality perspective due to changes in the contracting entities and related factors. By acting as both the retail electricity provider and aggregator under a single contractual framework, ENERES enables customers to flexibly switch between procurement methods in response to changing business and market conditions while maintaining compliance with the RE100 Technical Criteria.

Through this third-party validation, customers can integrate the service into their long-term decarbonization strategies with greater confidence.

ENERES will continue to support customers’ decarbonization initiatives by providing highly transparent decarbonization solutions.
